Distinguished Latymerian Actor Returns To School

Alan Rickman provides inspiration for new generation of scholars

Latymer Upper School held its annual prize giving on Thursday 27th September and was delighted to welcome back old boy Alan Rickman as guest speaker.

Mr Rickman gave an inspiring address, presented individual prizes to students and spent some time meeting parents and pupils at a reception after the event. He was also interviewed for the school magazine by some budding 12 year old journalists.

Born in Hammersmith, Alan Rickman attended Latymer from 1957 to 1964 and took part in many productions in the drama department during his time at the School, showing his potential and talent at an early age.

He is probably best known amongst this new generation of Latmer pupils for playing Professor Severus Snape in the series of Harry Potter films.
