Latymer Under 15's Through to Final

After thrilling win against Charterhouse in ISFA cup semis

In a gripping semi-final on Tuesday afternoon, Latymer Upper School Under 15 Football Team climbed back from two goals down against Charterhouse to win a place in the Final of the Independent Schools Football Association Cup.

Charterhouse, a much-fancied team for the final, seemed to be winning the battle in the first half, scoring two great goals. But come the second half, Latymer became a different side, and Charterhouse didn’t stand a chance.

Chuck Davidson-Houston scored twice, taking the match into extra-time. Just as the whistle blew to mark the end of the first half of extra-time, Marcus Burling headed Latymer into a 3-2 lead. The fourth goal was another header, this time from Orlando Del Maestro, from an inch-perfect free kick from Sam Jones.

Speaking after the match, Peter Winter, the Head, who was on the sidelines cheering his side on throughout the match said:
“This was a thrilling match and I could not be more proud of our boys. Charterhouse played a great game but in the end we were just too good for them!”

Latymer now progress to the final of the ISFA cup, playing at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium on Thursday, 6th March. The opposition is yet to be decided.
