Transport Disruption Over The Weekend

Circle line and bus services disrupted by Royal Parks Half Marathon

Bus, tube and road travel will be affected on Sunday October 5, when 16,000 runners will take part in the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon.

Although much of the event will take place in Hyde Park, Green Park and St James's Park, a number of key roads in the area will be closed to traffic as they will form part of the 13.1 mile Half Marathon Route. The road closures include Hyde Park Corner, Parliament Square, Victoria Embankment and Westminster Bridge.

The roads will be closed from early in the morning on Sunday 6, and are due to reopen at lunchtime, with the exception of the roads in Hyde Park, which are due to reopen at around 3pm.

TfL advises motorists to avoid driving in or through the affected areas on the morning or early afternoon on Sunday unless absolutely necessary, as the event has caused serious delays to road journeys in previous years.

It adds that if driving is your only option, please allow more time for your journey or travel at a different time if possible.

Tube and Rail services affected on Sunday October 6

There will be no service on the Jubilee line between Waterloo and Stanmore or on the Circle line between Edgware Road and Hammersmith. Other services in Greater London will also be affected on the day.

On National Rail, buses will replace trains between Clapham Junction and Barnes and between Camden Road and Willesden Junction.

Overground

Trains will not run between Highbury & Islington and New Cross/New Cross Gate as well as between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction. This is to enable us to start work on increasing capacity by extending platforms, in preparation for the upgrade from four to five car trains. On Saturday, there is no service between New Cross Gate and Crystal Palace/West Croydon due to capacity improvement work and while Network Rail carry out electrical work.

On Sunday, due to Network Rail track electrical work, trains will not run between:

  • Sydenham and West Croydon
  • Richmond and Camden Road via West Hampstead
