Hammersmith Major Incident Ends Peacefully

Police negotiations lead to arrest of man in Riverside Gardens

The major incident in Riverside Gardens which closed off much of King Street and caused traffic chaos around Hammersmith ended peacefully last night.

Police say that they were called to Riverside Gardens just after midday yesterday, September 29, after receiving reports of a man threatening to harm himself.

The surrounding area was cordoned off as police officers arrived in force along with the London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade.

This led to major chaos for local people trying to get home from work last night, with traffic backed up on all roads around Hammersmith.

Police report this morning that after some negotiations, the man was arrested and the incident came to a peaceful end at 8.30pm.
