Visit the River Ahead of the Boat Race

This month's guided walk in W6

HammersmithLondon is inviting local people to spend lunchtime joining a free guided walk along the riverbank on Friday March 26.

Walkers can enjoy one of the most beautiful stretches of the Thames ahead of the Varsity Boat Race and hear about past races – the winners, the losers and those who ended up in the Thames!

This walk is the latest in a series of lunchtime walks, each led by a Blue Badge Guide and lasting 45 minutes. The walks will take place on the last Friday of each month through till summer.

The visit, led by a Blue Badge Guide, will include access to parts of the building rarely seen by members of the public.

Walkers should meet at 1 Lyric Square. If you would like to take part you are asked to RSVP on 020 8741 8157.

HammersmithLondon is also running a series of Saturday morning walks exclusively for Privilege Card Holders on the first Saturday of each month. This month's is on March 6 from 11am, walking through Ravenscourt Park and on to Lyric Square.

Walkers will learn about the park that belonged to a royal mistress, Hammersmith's links with Poland - and with Kurdistan. Where Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Nigella Lawson and Kate Beckinsale started out on their glamorous careers, and the history of Hammersmith's one way system - you've always wanted to know that! Meet at Ravenscourt Park tube station.

Again these walks are led by Blue Badge guides and as they must leave on time, walkers are asked to be punctual.
