Brook Green Gets Overhaul

Council spend over £100,000 in refurbishment scheme.

Brook Green in Hammersmith is the latest park in the borough to have benefitted from major refurbishments with over £100,000 spent on a wide range of improvements.

The tennis courts have been upgraded, fencing has been replaced, access and pathways have been improved, as well as a refurbishment of the dog exercise area.

New park benches and bins have also been installed and grass areas dramatically improved. There are also plans to build a café and to tidy up the adjoining Little Brook Green and the area next to the tennis courts.

The park is also one of 22 open spaces in Hammersmith & Fulham that will benefit from new natural play equipment over the next few years, with the council earmarking over £1 million to spend across the borough.

The Brook Green improvements form part of the council’s ParkLife campaign which has seen substantial investment in parks and open spaces throughout Hammersmith & Fulham over the last year.

Cllr Paul Bristow, cabinet member for residents’ services, said: “I am sure that residents will be very pleased with the improvements we have made to Brook Green. We really have turned it into an inspirational space. Everyone knows how committed we are to improve our parks and open spaces so with summer now upon us, make sure you enjoy the great outdoors.”

Edmund Sixsmith of the Brook Green Association added: “The Green is looking vastly better!  It had got very run down in recent years and it is wonderful that the backlog of repairs has been dealt with, and numerous improvements realised.

The Parks Department liaised with us closely.  Excellent teamwork.  The local kids have shown remarkable patience in keeping off the new grass and we hope they will now cherish the revived kickabout area.  They deserve it!  We look forward to working with LBHF to look after what we have and to plan and achieve future planting and other improvements”
