Hammersmith Teen Charged with Carnival Stabbing


Student victim still in "serious" condition in hospital

A 16 year-old from Hammersmith has been charged with grievous bodily harm following the stabbing of a 20 year-old student at Notting Hill Carnival.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons appeared at West London Youth Court on Wednesday morning accused of GBH with intent and possession of an offensive weapon.

He has been remanded in custody and will reappear at the court on Wednesday September 28.

He was arrested along with four men after Rio Andre, a student at Hertforshire University, suffered stab wounds to the abdomen and hand in Ladbroke Grove at around 6pm on Monday, August 29.

He is now in hospital where his condition remains serious.

Three 20 year-old and one 21 year-old man were also arrested in connection with the attack. They have been bailed until later in September while police enquiries continue.
