Police Investigate "Serious Sexual Assault" in Hammersmith Grove


Man arrested holding knife and dressed only in underwear

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Sapphire Unit, which specialises in cases of rape and sexual assault, are investigating an allegation of serious sexual assault on Monday, October 31.

Police say they were called by members of the public to Hammersmith Grove at 10.37am on to reports of a man in possession of a knife wearing just his underwear. Officers attended and a 34 year-old male was arrested and is currently in custody at Hammersmith Police Station.

Following enquiries, officers attended an address in Hammersmith Grove. A 28 year-old male alleged he had been sexually assaulted, and was subsequently taken to Charing Cross Hospital suffering from mental health issues. He has been detained in hospital.

The scene in Hammersmith Grover was witnessed and photographed by JJSuzzers, who tweeted: " This guy was naked, carrying a knife and covered in blood!"

Police say enquiries are ongoing.
