Two local events are being held to find potential new foster carers living in our borough.

Residents from all backgrounds aged over 23 are asked to visit The Irish Centre in Hammersmith on January 27 and Shepherds Bush Library on February 2, where they can learn about different types of fostering arrangements and find one that suits their situation.

Attending these drop-in events will be the council’s fostering team, foster carers and some young people who have been in care. There will also be 30-minute presentations from social workers explaining how someone can become a carer.

Thursday January 27 - The Irish Centre, Blacks Road, Hammersmith
1.30pm – 8pm
(Presentations at: 2pm, 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7pm)

Wednesday February 2 - Shepherds Bush Library, Wood Lane
1.30pm – 7.30pm
(Presentations at: 2pm, 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 6.30pm)

Councillor Helen Binmore, cabinet member for children’s services, says she looks forward to seeing meeting new potential carers at these events.

She said: “We need more residents to share their homes with children who need a safe and loving environment. The carers I have met are warm, have a fantastic sense of humour and are truly inspirational. I know there are plenty more people out there like them just waiting to become great new foster carers.

“Our residents can make a real difference to children in our borough, by helping them get the most out of life and we look forward to seeing them at one of our open days.”
