Plans for Parks on Show in December

See designs created from children's ideas

Residents of Hammersmith and Fulham, both young and old, are being invited to come and see designs for new play equipment and features in the borough’s parks and open spaces.

This summer, children aged eight to 13 told the council which new play features they would like to see and the council is now unveiling plans based on their responses.

Over £1million has been earmarked by the council to spend on natural and adventurous play equipment, embracing natural features such as grassy mounds, sand and climbing boulders to give children more natural opportunities to play freely and creatively.

Ideas up for consideration include hills to climb up and
roll down, interesting pathways to follow and fallen trees to balance on.

In all, 22 of the borough’s parks, open spaces and housing estates will benefit from new natural and adventurous play equipment, with work taking place in several phases.

Cllr Paul Bristow, cabinet member for residents’ services, said: " Fun and exciting opportunities to play are at the heart of a happy, healthy and enjoyable childhood. These are your play areas, so let us know if you are happy with the proposals."
