Travelodge Aims to Open Six Hotels across Borough

New hotels would create 120 jobs and generate £12 million for local economy

Hotel chain Travelodge is hoping to open six new hotels across Hammersmith and Fulham, creating 120 local jobs.

The company says that with its existing hotel in North End Road in Fulham performing strongly, it it is now hunting for sites it can develop in Hammersmith, Fulham, Olympia, Parsons Green, Shepherds Bush and White City.

If Travelodge succeeds in finding suitable locations in the borough it says upwards of £12 million will be generated for the local economy as well as the new jobs.

Grant Hearn, Chief Executive of Travelodge Hotels, says: " Our existing hotel in Hammersmith and Fulham performs strongly all year round. Whether it be business travellers, leisure customers or families coming to visit loved ones, we are regularly achieving high occupancy levels.

" Inner London boroughs have a lack of good quality, affordable accommodation. Unfortunately, business and leisure visitors who want to stay close to central London do not currently have many options at a price point that represents value.

" Opening hotels at our target locations in Hammersmith and Fulham will ensure that the borough benefits from tourists to the capital who want to experience all that the local area has to offer, as well as be close to central London."

The proposed local launches announced by Travelodge this week are among 145 it is planning across London to add to its current total of 59.

The target list of 145 new hotels will create nearly 4,000 new jobs across the capital and boost the capital's economy annually by £290million.
