Sunday Night Comedy is Back

Laughter at the Lyric

A new season of Sunday Comedy nights begins at the Lyric Hammersmith on January 24.

The shows feature a mix of famous headliners and rising stars, all chosen by Richard Herring.

The first show has a stellar line-up with Robin Ince, Greg Davies, Brendon Burns and Sarah Kendall.

Robin Ince started as a writer working on Alistair McGowan's Big Impression, V Graham, Norton and Meet Ricky Gervais. Ince regularly supports Gervais on tour; he also appeared in one episode of The Office, playing interviewee Stewart Foot. In 2005 he started comedy night The Book Club, which won him the innovation award at the 2006 Chortle Awards as well as the outstanding contribution to comedy accolade at that year's Time Out awards. In 2007, he was named best compare at the Chortle Awards.

Greg Davies most recent credit is as the head of sixth form, Mr. Gilbert in the E4 BAFTA nominated series The Inbetweeners. Davies is also one third of the sketch group We Are Klang whose debut at Edinburgh picked up the Spirit of the Fringe award in 2004. He also writes and performs regularly on radio and TV programmes such as BBC New Talent, Stand Up Britain, ITV's Take the Mike and as a guest panellist on Mock the Week, 8 out of 10 Cats and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.

Brendon Burns’ TV career began as a performer on Channel 4's late-night spontaneous comedy show The Eleven O'Clock Show. Burns is most well known for his live solo performances where he has forged a reputation, with six live CDs. Burns first appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe in 1996, hosting The Comedy Zone showcase of new acts, and performing in his debut solo show 6pm Time To Get Up For Work. He has returned to the Fringe every year since. In 2009 Burns won the award for Best Live Comedy Show.

Sarah Kendal achieved much success on the Australian comedy circuit since winning the Raw Comedy competition in 1998, regularly appearing on Australian TV. Kendall has performed solo shows at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe since 2003 with her 2004 show being nominated for the prestigious Perrier award. She has been a 'special guest' on the BBC Radio 2 comedy show Parsons and Naylor's Pull-Out Sections and has more recently been working on an all-female sketch comedy show for E4.

The show is suitable for ages 16 and upwards. The fun begins at 8pm and tickets cost £10 and £15.  To book call 0871 22 117 22 or onlinre at The Lyric
