Hammersmith Gridlock Follows Delivery Lorry Crash

The Tesco driver who was involved in a collision on the morning of Tuesday 9 May escaped without serious injuries, according to the supermarket.

As this picture shows, the blue Tesco lorry hit a white van some time before 8.15am on Hammersmith Bridge Road southbound near St Paul’s Green just before it passes under the flyover.

The crash caused gridlock around Hammersmith town centre with the road closed for several hours, while emergency services arrived at the scene and the driver was taken to hospital.

The supermarket has now confirmed the driver was not seriously hurt in the incident, with a spokesperson saying: "We are in contact with the driver, who is out of hospital and recovering."
