Wilko Opens at Kings Mall on Tuesday March 8


With special giveaways and competitions for first customers


Home and garden store Wilko, is opening in Kings Mall, Hammersmith Tuesday March 8 at 9am with special giveaways and competitions for the first customers through the door.

The store, the 385th in the UK and the second in the borough alongside Fulham Broadway has brought 47 new jobs and provided a welcome boost to Kings Mall shopping centre on King Street.

To mark the special occasion, the Mayor of Hammersmith & Fulham Mercy Umeh will lead a ceremonial ribbon cutting, along with local charity Hammersmith United Charities, Wilko Retail Director, Robin Lassiter and Branch Manager, Linda Tollja.

The first 50 customers through the door will receive a retro blender and the next 50 will receive a £5 gift card with goody bag packed full of Wilko products.

A selfie competition will take place in store and those who take part will win a £5 gift card. And to give local shoppers and commuters a kick-start to the day, Wilko will be giving out coffee and goody bags filled with Wilko stationery in Lyric Square.

The opening day will be followed by a family fun day at the store on Saturday March 12 with entertainment and giveaways including a balloon modeller, and the local Lyric Young Group will perform a dance routine for shoppers. The first 100 customers will receive a goody bag, which includes a £5 gift card and Wilko gardening goodies.

Wilko Hammersmith's Branch Manager, Linda Tollja, says: " We are delighted to be opening a new store within Hammersmith and can't wait to welcome the local community to the new branch. We are looking forward to opening and introducing customers to the Wilko great value range of quality products."

Wilko is the second store to open in Hammersmith within the last two weeks. On February 23, Tesco Express opened on Parr's Way staffed by 22 local people. The store, which is close to Charing Cross Hospital presented a cheque for £500 to Imperial College Healthcare Charity on its launch day.
